  • Future studies should be prospective studies of children presenting with suspected abuse, all of whom undergo serological testing with precisely defined cut-offs, and abdominal CT would be the imaging of choice to delineate abdominal injuries
  • It would be optimal for children with negative investigations to undergo imaging to truly define specificity and sensitivity, however it is recognised that the radiation involved may pose ethical dilemmas
